Xerox: development of mDoc mobile document controller
mDoc is corporate server software that turns wireless handheld devices into mobile document controllers.
Eastyoke supplied the Contract Project Management for mDoc
Reporting to the General Manager in California, our mission was to take mobile portal technology from Xerox Research Centre Europe and commercialise it as a Xerox product.
Our brief was wide-ranging. We
- found new premises for the development team, recruited Java developers, test engineers and admin staff.
- outsourced server development to Wipro in India
- subcontracted the client software required for various mobile devices to specialists in the US and Germany.
- ran trials of the prototype product with Vodafone, Nokia, Motorola and WebLink Wireless (US)
- supported the product launch at Comdex & CeBIT
- And then we handed line management responsibility back to the internal Xerox management team.
