A Project Audit

The purpose of a project audit is to determine the status of a project, to uncover problems and to answer questions posed by the sponsor or senior manager:

  • Do I have good visibility on the current state of the project?
  • Will the end result meet my requirements?
  • Is the best technical approach being used?
  • Is the project plan credible?
  • Are the best industry practices being followed?
  • Could things be improved?

The result on a Project Audit

A project audit should give practical and specific advice on addressing any problems uncovered, and suggestions for improving efficiency.

The Project Audit process

  • Initiation and planning
  • Establish project baseline (the frame of reference against which to compare the actual project status)
  • Investigation
  • Analysis
  • Report presentation

“We engaged Eastyoke’s Brian Connellan to audit one of our systems development projects. We were particularly impressed with Eastyoke’s responsiveness as the audit was performed – and a presentation made to my executive team – all within 10 days. We then used Eastyoke’s project management expertise for a further three months to accelerate the programme and bring it to a successful conclusion. We were very pleased with the outcome; Eastyoke did a first-rate job.”
